Announcements for Nov. 16-20

November 20, 2009
By Wynette Jameson of Clear Creek High School

11.20.09
The Clear Creek Wrestling Team was in action last night in a Tri Meet against Klein and Cy-Woods. The Creek Girls won both Duels and are now 2-0 to start the season. The boys team lost both duels, but fought hard losing the last duel by only one point. The Wildcats are in actions this weekend at the Cy-Ridge tournament. Coach Thompson wants to remind the wrestling team that they have practice next week Monday, Tuesday, and next Saturday from 9-11 am in the wrestling room.

Clear Creek DECA competed in a marketing competition yesterday in Clear Lake.
Congratulations to the following DECA winners: Sydney Clements, Brendan Crouch, Kelsie Hart, Ashley Ledet-Arceneaux, Steven McCulloch, and Shacresha Randle.
For more information about DECA, see either Mrs. Camp or Mrs. Smith in Dbuilding.

If you make a transcript request through Naviance during the Thanksgiving holidays, they will be processed when we return on Monday, November 30th. Also, don't forget to come by and pay for your transcripts. They are $2.00 each. You will be placed on the 'not clear' list until your fees are paid in full. Thanks and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Erin M. Brooks
Registrar

I am pleased to report that Creek Debate Team has qualified for charter membership in the National Forensic League (NFL). A charter chapter, which recognizes achievement in attaining new members and degrees, is the highest school membership honor in the League. This year Creek Debate Team has received 21 degrees. Many team members have more than doubled their all-time point total. Top point getters:

Danny Surman 132 pts. this yr. 399 total
Aadi Kaul 113 pts. this yr. 272 total
Ashley Farmer 122 pts. this yr. 164 total
Sarath Thayil 104 pts. this yr. 137 total
Jessica Studer 104 pts. this yr. 104 total *This is Jessica's 1st year competing

With out students likes these and all of the other members that have done so well, we would not have made it this far. We still have an entire semester to make greater strides. Thank you Creek for your support.

Luis Garza Jr

The student council will no longer be recycling. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If any teachers would like to start a recycling club, I do have some kids interested.
Thank you for your support of CCHS Student Council.

Food for Fines

Yesterday, the news reported that the need for food in area food banks was up 40% compared to this time last year. AND, monetary donations are down by half due to the economy. Therefore, the library will be accepting unexpired canned/boxed food for library fines during the month of December. Each item will clear up to $.50 of fines. Larger fines require more food. Overdue books must be turned in before fines can be cleared with food. All food will be donated to Interfaith Caring Ministries.
